Ideal Season for Chisapani Nagarkot Trekking:

This captivating adventure is viable throughout much of the year, excluding the monsoon season from mid-June to early September and the winter season extending from mid-December to February.

The prime time for this extraordinary journey is the spring season, spanning from March to May. During this period, most days offer clarity, with occasional light rain and snow in the late afternoon. Despite chilly mornings and nights, the landscape showcases stunning seasonal wildflowers, from towering trees to bushy rhododendrons, magnolias, and other vibrant blooms.

Clear skies dominate the days, providing magnificent views of snow-capped peaks. The extended daylight hours in spring make it an opportune time to embark on this adventure.

The following favorable season is autumn/fall to pre-winter, ranging from mid-September to early December. While mornings and evenings can be colder during this period, and daylight hours shorten as winter approaches, most days remain bright and clear. This allows for excellent mountain views and enjoyable walks, although higher elevations may experience occasional snowfall.

Today marks the commencement of the trek into the natural haven of Shivapuri National Park as we embark on a drive to Sundarijal, the starting point of our journey. Sundarijal, a charming settlement northeast of Kathmandu, is renowned for its picturesque scenery, hydroelectric station, and a small dam supplying water to the Kathmandu Valley. Our trek begins along stone stairs, leading us into the wet, sub-tropical forest adorned with rhododendron and oak trees. We traverse the watershed and lush forest, reaching the first settlement of the day, Mulkharka, a sparsely located Tamang village. From Mulkharka, the trail ascends to the heights of Burlung Bhanjyang and descends the ridge through oak and rhododendron forests to our destination for the day, Chisapani. Dominated by the Sherpa community, Chisapani is renowned for its panoramic views of the Jugal Mountain range, including peaks such as Ganesh Himal and Langtang Peak, the majestic Everest and Kanchenjunga Peak to the east, and Manaslu and Annapurna to the far west. After enjoying a captivating sunset, we retreat to our respective rooms to warm up. Spend the night in Chisapani.
Rising to a delightful sunrise over the Himalayas on this day, we gear up for our trek to another renowned hill station in Nepal, Nagarkot. Embarking on a charming trail, we traverse lush and dense forests within the national park, following the ridge with occasional glimpses of Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, and Manaslu Peaks. As we reach Chauki Bhyanjyang and the nearby Jhule, popular rest spots, we pause for a brief break. Continuing through the rural countryside, the trail winds through the verdant, relaxing forest, featuring brief undulations, until we reach Nagarkot, situated to the east of Kathmandu. This hilltop offers one of the most beautiful sunsets and sunrises, accompanied by panoramic views of the Himalayas and unparalleled scenery. The sun adorns the mountains in a surreal fashion, allowing your imagination to revel in the unfolding colors. Following a moderately strenuous trek, enjoy an overnight stay in a Nagarkot hotel.
Once again greeted by the stunning sunrise over the Himalayas, our day begins with breakfast, followed by a journey to the town with the ancient Changunarayan Temple. Commencing amidst the scenic environs of Nagarkot framed by majestic peaks, we trek through terraced fields, traversing unique settlements predominantly inhabited by the indigenous Tamang community, with Telkot village being a major highlight. These houses, crafted by local artisans, feature thatched roofs, adjoining sheds for animals, and vegetable gardens supplying fresh produce. The villages also produce delightful local wines, offering a treat for visitors. Those interested can savor local dishes as well. In the more scenic sections, trekkers traverse rich deciduous forests. With each step, the Himalayas appear more distant, and the paths become gradually leveled as we reach the Changunarayan Temple. This temple, boasting intricate carvings, a unique pagoda style, and historical monuments, sculptures, and statues, is listed as a World Heritage Site. Following exploration of this ancient temple, we drive back to Kathmandu in approximately an hour. Spend the night in Kathmandu.
